Pantelleria is an island at the centre
of the Mediterranean, placed like a sentinel between two continents, famous
for its natural beauties, its thermal, agricultural, geological and archaeological
resources.

During the various dominations, on
this little island eastern and western culture succeeded in coexisting and
blending, as the social texture was always sensitive and open to all the
cultural contributions of the different civilisations.

The first impact arriving from the
sea is with the harbour and with Pantelleria as a chief town. Its only big
attractions are the Barbacane castle, dominating the promenade along the
sea front; the old Via Colombo and the Borgo, where on summer evenings,
the very crowded bars are enlivened by the presence of numerous tourists
and locals desiring to enjoy the splendid and cool Pantelleria nights.

One cannot leave Pantelleria without
having made a boat trip around it to enjoy the stupendous coasts, with the
green-azure-silver reflections of the water in the marine grottoes, and
the needles, the elephant arch, the bays with their transparent water.

The look of the coasts, which are
never equal and uniform, and all the rest, will make you feel satisfied
with the fantastic day you have spent.
